[He didn't trust him, no matter how "helpful" he'd been on their trip. He had unnatural habit of just showing up where he and his friends were. It was disturbing and something that all of the group had agreed on.
So the "getting to know" Ardyn Izunia basically equated to watching him so that he couldn't get near his prince.]
I suppose they put up with it because it's all that they've known. Or they've grown accustomed to subpar ingredients for lack of anything better. For my own part, I don't believe that I will fall into the second category.
[The trials and tribulations of learning to cook at a young age and being a perfectionist.]

[Ardyn smiled, slightly amused at the younger man's detailed analogy of the space food. To be honest it was very dull at the best of times, yet Ignis was a master chef. The best of the Crownsguard, so that Noctis could enjoy a meal fit for a king.]
Will you perhaps cook aboard the ships? Space food can't really be turned into a master piece, hm?

[ He won't deign to answer the question about the dishes he prepares for Noctis and the others. It's obviously a throwaway.
At least that's how he's going to take it, since he answered himself.]I will continue to do what is needed in whatever capacity that might be. My first priority is that of my first duties. Cooking here may be included in that and I will do such. As for what this...food can be used for, it appears to be my job to find out right now.

[He felt trapped and he didn't like it.]
Of course you will. I doubt you were chosen to be his Highness' cook if you lacked the certain culinary flair.
[Was he patronising? Perhaps. Yet, the man could cook. Ardyn was slightly in awe of that.]

[Because Ignis doesn't give up. At all.]
I. Am. Not. His. Cook.

[Was it something he said? Ardyn was smirking now.]

Best not to let it happen again.]
I happen to cook for him while we travel, yes, but I'm not the only one who can. [He just has the best aptitude for it.] Besides, one way to learn what you like is to try different things, and the prince and I are no different in that regard.

Enlighten me. Who out of your merry little band can cook aside from you? I was under the impression that none of the others knew how and solely relied on you to cook everything. His Majesty wouldn't stoop so low, as to cook for himself.

They all have basic survival skills. I am the best at cooking, so I do so at their request. Should I be unable, they are perfectly capable of finding food to eat. On Eos, it's not that difficult to find a restaurant, after all.
And if Noctis can stand around and fish, he can learn to cook it. It's one thing we all agreed on.

Basic? Unlike you who has such a range of knowledge concerning the culinary arts. You're a talented man, Ignis. What would the others do without you, hm?
[There was a hint of malice in his last words. If he were to kill Ignis, what would they do? Starve to death?]
Ah yes, his Highness is an able angler I've heard. How is he with the rod?

I'm sure they'd do fine on their own. None of them are useless.
[Try it, old man. Just try it. He won't go down easily.]
He is a fine fisherman. It's his passion, like cooking is mine.

I would never dream of calling any of them useless. If things came to the worse I'm sure his Highness would all have them eat at the Crow's Nest or some other such sordid establishment.
[Sordid because it sold fries and greasy food? Such a fussy eater, Ardyn.]
Has he caught the "big one" yet? I'm sure he's aching to catch something worth while.
[Old man? If only you knew, Ignis. If only you knew.]
