Romelle | Voltron: Legendary Defender
Oh! OH! They're so close!
[Romelle is quite literally nearly on the edge of her seat, leaning enthusiastically forward. She might have never really participated in sports within the colony but it's clear she's enjoying herself in watching these. The current event is a race and Romelle is so into it's almost charming.
A cry rises from the crowd and Romelle participates right along with it, throwing her arms in the air and shouting full-force.]
YOU CAN DO IT!
II. Exploration {Yaugur System}
[This whole outing had begun with Romelle dubious at best and she seems apt to stay that way. Exploring the mist had been rejected entirely by her with the raise of a brow and the purse of her lips being enough indication of just how little she liked the idea.
This outing was all about confirming a local legend. Romelle had listened raptly to the tale herself.]
It is a very interesting legend and all, I'll admit that. Isn't it a bit too much to go hunting down a legend however? You never know, it might be something with a few too many sets of teeth. Or slimy hands.
III. Network + Action;
[Adjust the view. Peer at the communicator a moment... perfect! The blonde holding the device gives a light wave to the camera itself.]
Hello there, everyone! I'm Romelle. I don't mean to take up much of your time but I do have a quick question.
[There's an almost British accent to her tone. And now she presents one of the protein solids dispensed in the dining area. It's wheat and it wobbles as she shakes her hand back and forth.]
Is this supposed to be quite this flexible?
IV. Wildcard
[Feel free to hit me with any other prompts you have in mind.]
1!
[Of course he can do it! Shiro has been racing for years, back in the Garrison it was one of his favorite ways to spend his breaks. So he races at every planet he can too, usually dragging Keith and Lance with him.
He wins this race with no difficulty and, after leaving the speeder with the mechanics for any necessary fixes, he approaches certain Altean in the audience with an amused smile and his helmet under his hand.]
Thanks for all the cheering. Not interested in riding too? [Is he offering? Sure sounds like it.]

Can anyone jump into one of those and race then? ... Isn't that a touch dangerous?
no subject
no subject
Well, if you don't mind me tagging along...
[Her tone is somewhat sly. Perhaps she could get used to this adventuring and thrills business after all. Maybe.]

You're right, I really do need to learn more valuable skills. There are some things I just seem to know now but learning more can't hurt!
no subject
[Some times he wishes he could take those stories (memories) home, but let's not think about that now. Shiro lets go of her hand to bring the speeder closer now that the mechanics are done with it, just pushing it by the handles for now.]
Do you want to jump right into it or would you rather have a ride as passenger first?

Least he can do drop down onto the ship's railing to commiserate with a like-minded member of this crazy expedition. Hopefully she's used to people in weird, brightly colored outfits, because if not...well, he'd just have something else to explain.]
Oh, I wouldn't worry about any of that. The Big Ugly down there's got only the one set- the problem is that those pearly whites are the size of starships.
[And you know, not white at all, but the same creepy black mist nonsense the rest of it is. But he's doing his best to put up his usual confident, overly optimistic attitude while he's got the costume on. Not just to keep in character, since he's still clinging desperately to that secret identity stuff, but also because hey, the Mist's gonna be bad enough for everybody, no need to overly worry the newbie. Despite already having just dropped out of the sky into her vicinity to crawl about on the side of the ship. He isn't the greatest at thinking these things through.]
So- seeing as how you sound about as excited about this little venture as I am, how'd you get roped into this wild goose chase?
no subject
What she is phased by is the fact that he just sort of dropped in out of nowhere. Seriously, where had he even come from? He talks and she spends a good minute or more trying to work out just where he came from.]
Oh, well, I'm quite new here and thought it best to start off on the right feet. ... Foot? How does that saying go again? I didn't want anyone to get the wrong impression and think that I wouldn't be helpful.
[...]
By the way, where exactly did you come from?
no subject
[Heck he's not even sure there are expectations. Maybe things like "don't blow up the ship" or "please don't start a crazy space war" or something, but, hopefully those were all things that nobody actually needed to be told. Hopefully.
At her second question though, he'll just stand up to point at the protected balloon floating way up there above the airship deck.]
Well, New York, but more recently, up there- makes it easier to keep an eye on things. The security gig's not quite as glamorous as the exploration one, but this way I can at least go along for the ride.
no subject
[Then again she just finished traveling across space so she could yell at someone and oust them for the villain they were so her judgments on what constitutes a proper space trip might be flawed.
She turns her gaze up to the protected balloon, noting how it's not really floating all that close.]
Did you jump down?
[From up there?!]
no subject
[He'll go ahead and squat back down to a more comfortable position to continue the conversation though, if only because he's a little more at ease talking to people at something close to eye level. Well, that, and it's no fun having to crane your neck up just to talk to someone. That he knows from experience, considering even Romelle here's got a few inches on him in the height department.]
Uh...kinda? I mean, it was more like a guided fall than a jump, way easier on the landing and I don't have to-
[He's at least conscious of the fact he's starting to give way more complicated an answer than is necessary for a simple yes-or-no question, and stops himself before he prattles on too much longer, perking up a little to shrug his shoulders for a more simplified response.]
-actually, yeah, basically!
no subject
She laughs a little faintly, her shoulders relaxing.]
I'm alright with that, honestly. I could use a little underwhelming time.
[Considering how life had gone for her over the past so many years, with first her parents and her friends and then Bandor himself being swept up in Lotor's "colony"... yeah, a dull ride through space would be lovely, thank you.
That said, she isn't very keen on backing out of things either. Into the mist she volunteered to go so that's what she's got to do in the end.]
Well then, I suppose the only thing to do is to venture out. And hope whatever has those teeth doesn't visit too soon.
(no subject)
I managed to lose this tag at some point, I am so sorry!

[Then again it isn't as if she's not ate her share of goo or whatnot over time. She wobbles the bit again and notes:]
They mentioned something called peanut butter as well? Or at least a concoction something like it.

[Perhaps food that's more solid than semi-solid? No offense but...]
no subject
[Keith was definitely annoyed and disappointed. He understands what you're feeling, Romelle.]
We're usually pretty good at picking things up for each other, though.
no subject
[Her enthusiasm for that is clearly evident. Then she laughs a little sheepishly.]
Pardon me, I'm afraid the idea of ... well, this really does make me appreciate the idea of food storage more than I ever thought I would.

[ Allura had her own reservations about the expedition, especially given the nature of their arrival. Entertainment? Really? What sort of entertainment would the Atroma be looking for by allowing their actors to wander the dangerous wilds? No program that she wanted to be a part of, that was for sure, but she had to put that at the back of her mind in pursuit of knowledge. Things they should both be cognizant of, but not consumed by.
There is much more to take in, after all. The mists are oppressive and beautiful at the same time. The danger they face is real, though Romelle's depictions of a legendary beast bring her to pause with a hint of amusement. ]
It may, though we have no evidence of its existence but disappearances to go off of.
[ Technicalities. ]
I would like to find remnants of previous explorers. Many have lost their way and lives traveling to these islands with little to show for it.
no subject
[She doesn't mean to say it in such a shocked way but Allura is talking about losing lives.
Okay. Alright, Romelle, calm down. Just because there have been travelers lost and never found again doesn't mean you're going to find bodies strewn everywhere. Or even any bodies to begin with!]
I suppose they could have always left behind gear. Or something else of the sort. ... Right?
I THOUGHT I RESPONDED TO THIS FOREVER AGO I'M SO SORRY
Oh.
Oops. Allura holds up her hands in a placating motion. ]
...Yes, yes precisely! Their gear or their campsites. Those are the sorts of signs we will be on the lookout for.
[ Not of them...physically.
Although that is honestly a real possibility, but perhaps Romelle doesn't need to think about that right now. It's clear where her mind is going to go. ]
Never the less, we will need to stick close together. Do you have your mask?
LOL it's alright
[And to her credit, she's already pulling it on. Thoughts of remnants and such are waved away to focus on what's at hand. Romelle is good enough at compartmentalizing things when she needs to at least.
Once her mask is in place and she takes a breath through it, Romelle can't help but note:]
What a terrible place to be lost in. I do hope we can find something at least.
[Her tone sounds serious enough, a vague touch of melancholy to it. It makes her wonder yet again if Bandor had felt anything like that in that last desperate escape of his.]
<3
Once Romelle's mask is on, Allura nods and pulls down the visor of her helmet. ]
As do I.
[ With that, she descends into the mist, making sure to find proper footholds and not move too far in front of the other woman. ]
It's much more dense than I imagined...I can barely see my own feet in front of me.
