Eleanor Hume | Tales of Berseria
[Eleanor wasn't one to admit it, but she was very bad at taking time to herself. Docking on the water planet gave her the unique chance to relax, and she was going to make the most out of it.]
[Throughout the day, she can be found at one of the many local shops. Mostly she's browsing the accessory stands, looking for souvenirs for her friends, but she can also be seen watching the flying fish.]
[After dark, she can be found enjoying the local delicacies. No fish? No problem. She was more than happy to eat penguin.]
[Network]
[Not long after they dock in Mafik, Eleanor's voice comes in loud and clear over the network.]
Good afternoon,
As I'm sure some of you have noticed, there's a sickness spreading among the Dasioe. We haven't been here long, but they've been excellent hosts, and I believe it's our duty to help.
I know that some of our scientists have found a medicine that can limit the spread of this disease, and that there are many among us who have healing arts that can help. Many of the wounded would also benefit from having supplies.
I'll be leading a relief team out tomorrow, please contact me if you're interested in joining.
[Wildcard]
[Up to you! Feel free to message this journal for plotting.]

Can't leave you alone for a minute, huh?

Zaveid?
[Something seems off...]
You look different.
[Where is your shirt?]
no subject
Yeah, I guess it's been a little while...

somehow, she doesn't believe that]It does feel like it, doesn't it? [To Eleanor, it's been months, but she's been so busy that it feels like years.]
How have you been?

[Something about Zaveid still feels off, but she can't place exactly what it is.]
And you? It seems you've been here awhile.

What'd that poor bird ever do to you?
no subject
[But that didn't mean that Eleanor was going to take this lying down. People ate chickens all the time, what made penguins any different?]
I don't want to hear that from you.
no subject
Of course you don't. The point's still valid, though.
[She moves to join her. She likes giving Eleanor a hard time because she's an easy target, but she has a healthy respect for her. She's not so bad for an exorcist, her willingness to question Artorius' methods proved that. She'd proven herself to be a reliable ally.]
no subject
I know, but it's so delicious. [It's not her fault that the smallest and cutest animals also tasted the best.]
Would you like to join me? [She lightens up when she asks. As far as she knows, Velvet is still missing her sense of taste, but it would be a good opportunity to catch up. Plus, Eleanor could use the girl talk.]
no subject
But she shrugs and lets the matter drop. She just likes giving Eleanor a hard time, she doesn't actually want her to stop eating.]
I can stay for awhile. I can't taste the food here any more than I can back home, though.
no subject
[She smiles in return, although there's a hint of sadness to it. Velvet rarely talks about her lack of taste, but Eleanor knows it's still affecting her.]
I was hoping we could catch up. It's been awhile since I've seen you.
['Awhile' being several months, give or take.]

Let's be honest, no one's ever ready for Edna.]Wow, you really are that much of a goody-goody. I can't believe it. It's like the princess never left.
[As annoying as she professes Eleanor to be, it's sorta nice that there are some people who can see her. And if she traveled with Eizen and that Lord of Calamity, then she can't be that bad.]
What makes you think that our healing artes are going to work on the Dasioe? Have you tried it before now, without a seraph or malak tethered to you.
c:
[Does that mean she's ready for her? Definitely not.]
I don't see what's wrong with trying to help other people. [Or fish people, as the case may be.]
And even if they don't work, we can still take over supplies. It's better to do something than nothing.
no subject
And no one is ever ready for the Edna Inquisition. It comes with a lot of stabby.]
Depends on why you're trying to help others, doesn't it? Are you really doing it so they can have an easier time? Or are you doing it to fuel some selfish desire to make yourself look better in front of other people?
[Fish people, Earth Dwellers. They're all the same in the long run to Edna.]
I'm sorry. I can't carry anything heavier than a parasol. I'm afraid I'd be poor company in your humanitarian efforts.
no subject
[Where she got that notion is anybody's guess, but it's clearly hurting her now.]
It shouldn't matter. Helping others is helping others, isn't it? [She looks very noticeably sad. Eleanor never really cared about looking good in front of others, she was earnestly only trying to help.]
[But her earnest drive to help, coupled with her stubbornness, had costed others dearly. No matter the girl's intentions, Edna's words do have some sting to them.]
Ah, I wouldn't dream of asking you! [Eleanor doubted that Edna was telling the truth, but she also knew that if anything happened to Edna, the exorcist was dead.]
no subject
Sucks to be her. ]
Oh, is that what they taught back in the Abbey to all the little pawns? What a shame.
[It's obvious that Edna struck a nerve, but she really hates naivety that can lead to harm of others, and this girl reeks of it. Like a wet dog.]
The reasons for why we do the things we do is very important. Especially since one of us can manifest something that can hurt the other if they have selfish and base desires. Isn't that right, Earth Dweller?
[She doesn't yell. She doesn't snarl. Her voice is calm and to the point, devoid of anything but cold, hard truth.]
I know you didn't ask me specifically, but you are looking for others to join you in your little crusade, are you not?
no subject
[But it was because of that guilt that she had to move forward. She couldn't just ask for forgiveness, she also had to work to do what good she could.]
It may have been what the Abbey taught, but it was also a decision I made for myself. I am nobody's pawn.
[Not anymore, anyway.]
And that's exactly why I asked for volunteers. Those who feel like they can help are welcome to, but those who don't aren't obliged to join. Including you.

[Or had information that Eizen needed. But they were gonna ignore that one for now.]
It's nice to be able to relax. I feel like I never had this opportunity back home.

While I do not have any talent for healing, I am something of an alchemist; I am sure I can mix the medicine if given the resources. May I go with you? I think you will not regret it.
[Hopefully, anyway. He can't imagine losing his temper when they're out doing a simple supply mission.]
Also, it seems the wildlife have been sickened as well... I am considering mixing some medicine into food for them.
no subject
We're happy to have any help. Thank you for volunteering.
[His second comment catches her off-guard, but he does have a point. They would need to find a way to distribute the medicine for it to work.]
I think that would be a great idea. If we aren't able to prevent the animals nearby from spreading the disease, there's only so much we'll be able to do.
no subject
Mm. You can thank me when I actually contribute something. [He has a fierce need to prove his worth, ok.] My name is Belthazar, by the way-- I'm a cook on the Blue Fish.
And, yes, I must agree... If we save the people but do nothing for the world they live in, they will be very cross with us, I should think.
no subject
[So does she. And a genuine need to help people, too.]
Yes. I imagine we'd be disappointed with ourselves, as well.
