Well... more or less. Admittedly, the last time I did I was wearing less and it ended in a shared shower, but I'm pretty sure it's still meant to be relatively harmless.

[ He resists the urge to scoop mud off the other man and stripe it down his nose. ]

You want some help drying that off so it can be brushed off?

[anewhope]

[ His expression crinkles, like he doesn't know whether to be mildly scandalized or amused. ]

I think I'll be fine. Thank you.

Apollo shrugs and steps back a little, closing his eyes as he hovers for a moment, the mud drying across him quickly as he briefly heats and then cools again as he touches back down on the ground.

Then he grins again and looks at the other man, holding out a hand to him.

Apollo.

[anewhope]

[ What was that? Clark does his best not to gape or stare, shaking the man's hand firmly and keeping his gaze off. ]

Clark Kent.

[ That is an unabashed superhero, my friend. ]

Good to meet you, Clark. You from the Fleet?

[anewhope]

[ What a marvel concept. ]

Yes. I've just arrived. I'm security detail.

[ What a wild concept. ]

Hey, you're up on me. I'm a cook! Which is hilarious, because I can't be poisoned and don't have to eat strictly speaking.

[anewhope]

I guess that means you're somewhat qualified. I'm no good in a fight.

[ Which doesn't sound believable considering how . . . big he is. ]

[ What he wouldn't give right now to have Midnighter here, to tell him what he could see, cover his blind spots.

Instead, he just nods slowly. ]

You look like you would be. You're pure muscle there.

[anewhope]

I work out.

[ Smooth. He pushes his glasses up, a faint smile. ]

But I'm not ready to put myself to the test.

Clearly.

[ If Apollo doesn't believe him, he doesn't give any sign of it. ]

Well, if you ever are, I'm normally pretty easy to find. I'd be happy to help out.

[ Clark is so stealthy! ]

Help me work out? Uh, no, thank you. Though I appreciate it.

With the fighting.

[ His grin takes on a decidedly cheeky edge and he floats up in the air a little, leaning down to look at Clark. ]

I don't know that our work outs would involve the same thing, but I'm sure I could manage if you ever change your mind.

[ Yes, you really are being flirted with. ]

[anewhope]

[ He ducks his head, flashing a quiet smile. ]

I'll try and remember that.

I'm guessing that you might find an offer to help you get rid of that mud a bit forward.

[anewhope]

[ He shakes his head. ]

Maybe a little. I'm just not used to the attention. It's really flattering.

[ Clark can never stop the instinctive reaction to look away, to vanish, to make sure he never leaves a lasting impression. He's played it dangerously close at times, and that's how Lois found him. ]

You're a good looking guy, I'm surprised you don't get flirted with more often. Especially with a pair of arms like those.

[Apollo is not encroaching on personal space, but he's definitely flirting with his body language... while still hovering.]

[anewhope]

Looks aren't everything, I suppose.

[ Something he is vaguely grateful for. ]

Well, no, of course not, but they're the first thing we notice.

Are you saying that your personality is what turns women off?

[anewhope]

[ He shrugs, nonchalant. ]

Maybe? Don't take it from me.

[ Apollo drops back down to the ground, looking actually a little bit worried now. ]

Hey, you seem like a nice guy. And if I'm making you uncomfortable, just tell me so, okay?

[anewhope]

[ His expression becomes gentle. ]

You're not. Like I said, I'm flattered. I'm only not used to it. More of a drifting in and out type to get a lot of attention.

Flattered and uncomfortable aren't mutually exclusive.

But he still finds it a little odd that more people haven't told Clark what a good looking guy he is. Maybe he's just good at hiding it at home.

Maybe the mud is just very becoming for him.

But, y'know, good that I'm not. I'm a flirt, I'd rather not go into creeper level.

[anewhope]

Don't worry. If I notice you're heading there, you'll be the first to know.

[ It is flattering. It's just that Clark has years of instinctive responses to squash down. But he should be fine. This is a superhero . . . almost like Clark himself.

He shouldn't have to fear. ]

[ Apollo smiles again. It doesn't really take a lot to make him smile, in fairness. ]
