    Thumbs?

[Lampy stares at his plug for a moment, perplexed, his cord coiling about for a moment in the general shape of a thumbs up hand.]

I mean...I guess, but I still don't see why you need plates.

That is a very clever trick!

[The hell is that cord about, wow, he wishes he could do that. Lucky. ]

To put out dinner for the rest of the crew, of course. I'm not about to let them go without a proper evening meal.

[ It's not something that's easy for either of them for different reasons. Eizen was Edna's brother and there's no denying how intense and painful it must have been for her, but Zaveid had lost the only person he had left in the entire world, the link to his past, the person who had saved him. He had nothing once Eizen was gone, not really, and the risk of losing the Shepherd and their pact to Heldalf...

Shaking his head, he knocks the thoughts away with a huff and a shrug. ]

He just shouted at me a little bit. No big deal, I'm used to angry brothers!

    [ No he's not. But, hey - ]

That's not very nice! They probably feel really lucky.

[Lumiére gets the food thing, he really, genuinely does. Okay, so he doesn't eat himself any more, but he feels it's a travesty to his profession to watch people having to eat this not-food on a daily basis. It breaks his not--currently-technically-existent heart.

He shuffles over, face full of concern.
    ]

I am sorry, monsieur, if I had it my way, you would all have the most delectable feasts imaginable. Or at least something resembling real food. For now, you are stuck with these atrocities to the pallet.

[So you know what comes with space? Aliens. Here's one now! Peebee's not too happy about the kidnapping or the augment either and it's got her in a foul mood as she explores this tiny excuse for a ship. She hasn't been here two weeks and she's already suffering cabin fever.]

[She wanders in, picks up a tube and looks it over, then tosses it back unceremoniously on the counter before leaning back against it and crossing her arms, looking at Seymour.] Mmmmmm, protein paste. Thought I'd seen the last of this shit.

I don't know if anyone's going to force it on you, but if that's all this bucket's got then you might want to just suck it up.

The food is just awful, isn't it?! You can eat it just like that, but personally I like to put it on some bread if we have it. Then follow it up with lots of water or alcohol to get the taste out of my mouth.

[Vash sighs dramatically and wipes a tear from his eye.] But better than starving I guess.

((I picked a slightly different thing for the prompt, hope that's OK---if not I can switch))

[As Seymour is examining the equipment, Billy rises up from his bunk, about to do his repair rounds. He spots something a little off near his new crewmate and rushes over, toolbox in hand.]

Excuse me, may I see that? I'm sorry, we've been having a hundred problems with that air valve lately...are you feeling all right?

[His hands spring into action right away, but at that last word he finally turns to face Seymour, looking worried. Air leaks are bad news.]

[That...does not look good. Even on the Marsiva, there should be doctor-bots attending to her.]

It's a name for New York City, I believe? And there may be another town by that name in...I want to say Montana? I'm not all that familiar with it, I'm sorry.
    dontfeedplants: (What am I saying?)

[That... sure is a talking candle. It takes Seymour a few moments to get over the sudden shock of a talking, very moving candle, unsure what to think.

On one hand, because of his experience with Twoey he gets over his shock rather quickly. But on the other hand, Twoey told him they needed blood sacrifices to stay alive, so...

He figures he might as well talk to it though. After all, it's too small to really do anything, right.]

I... I'm sure I'll live. I've probably been able to survive off of worse food anyway.
    dontfeedplants: (Default)

    [personal profile] dontfeedplants 2017-04-06 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
[In the very least, Seymour does have some experience in dealing with aliens (although he's unaware of it at this point), but don't mind him staring a little bit. At the very least he isn't too horribly shocked by this, luckily waking up in space does prepare you for a couple of things after all.

    But more importantly, the food.]

You had to eat this stuff where you're from?

[Yeesh, he thought he had it bad.]
dontfeedplants: (It's not a question of merit)

    [personal profile] dontfeedplants 2017-04-06 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
[Thank god another human. Well that sure is overdramatic. Sure Seymour wished he could get a something nicer than this gross stuff but crying is a bit excessive.

But, well, it would be rude to point that out. After all, maybe it is really that gross.]

I guess it's better than starving. But I always thought that when they did space travel that they would find a way to at least make food look good up here.

[But his knowledge of space travel is minimal at best, even from his own time period.]

Oxygen imbalances or gas releases can have mind-altering effects...might be mild, could be worse, but even knowing that death isn't permanent here, it's highly inconvenient.

[He shakes his head with a smile.]

Don't worry. I know everyone's brain is a little scrambled when they're new. Unfortunately, that's by our captors' design---actually, have you figured out what your augment is yet?
dontfeedplants: (You know the book doesn't lie)

    [personal profile] dontfeedplants 2017-04-06 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
Right, I keep forgetting that we don't die for good here.

[In the very least this does confirm that Twoey is not the one behind this because immortality is definitley not a thing he asked for.]

I'm not sure. I feel like I know more things now, [As creepy as it was to think about it.] but I'm not really sure how to apply any of it to anything that could help this team.

Yeah, for a little bit. You spend six hundred years in cryo you don't just pop out eating solid foods. Plus, it holds and travels well so ... you find yourself needing something that won't spoil, that's usually what you'll have.

[The staring, well. It's not common but she's aware she hasn't seen a single other Asari since she's arrived. Or Turian or Salarian or even any Angarans.]

[But for now, she stares right back at him.]

It didn't take long for Peebee to explore her ship and decide this was the Worst Thing Ever that could have happened to her. Sure, she liked the idea of traipsing around the universe - but at the whim of an unknown kidnapper? No thank you. Forget her quarters; she's shacking up in one of the shuttles for an easy getaway if the opportunity ever presented itself.

That means moving all the necessities from her assigned bunk and grabbing a few choice non-perishable provisions from the galley.

    Network

[Underwater video post because that's not even something she can do in her own world - and she looks stoked about it.]

Heeeey Fleet! Peebee here, talk about some wild tech, right? I think this is definitely something we need to research and utilize for our own purposes. [entirely serious reasons besides 'this is so cool!' lies]

    Space Bar

[Maybe she's been here long enough for the novelty to wear off, or maybe she thought she'd made some big discovery to find out someone already majored in it, or maybe it's just a random Tuesday.]

[Either way, she's at the bar, and she is tanked.]

No - you have a funny face. But I like it. [She raises her glass in a toast,] Cheers to you an' your funny face!

[So, yeah; have fun with that.]

Don't worry about it. You had the right idea with trying different things.

So we can probably eliminate engineering---they try to avoid double-assigning if possible anyway. Have you tried piloting, or combat?

Gotham is actually not far from the city proper. [Kristen is actually sitting down since she's bugged by all those bruises and the current puzzle.] And its ok, I had a feeling it was a try wasted but had to make the attempt in case anyone from the department was here.

He seems very concerned by that question.]

Right, at least I'm trying things, I guess.

[He's just going to... gently not mention he was just being curious and not trying to figure out his augment.]

Not really. I'm not exactly skilled at much so I'm a little worried about trying to pilot anything.

[Eizen's little sister has a cynical streak. Velvet isn't entirely surprised. She was around when the abbey was tethering malakhim and taking their free will in the name of the greater good. That's the kind of thing that's bound to make a person jaded.]

[Yeah, he's not holding out hope. He does lean back with a quiet huff, crossing his arms over his chest.]

It's still a work in progress, so it's not like I can brag about it. But we're collaborating with the lab support from a couple of the other ships to see about researching whatever is poisoning the people here. It's something we've seen before.

'Cause no one's figured out how to universe-hop any quicker. At least, no one from my universe ... universes. Somehow I doubt these Atroma have it figured out either, but I don't get the impression they're too eager to show us otherwise.

[She lifts a finger to twirl by her own eyes - indicating his glasses.] They got all this fancy tech and crap they couldn't fix your eyes while they were at it? Or is it just for show?
