Clark Kent | DCU
[ Clark felt . . . oddly weak. It wasn't a bad sensation, just a new one. He glanced at the sky with a thoughtful frown. He remembered his father Jor-El telling him about the sun's rays and how they nourish his body. Is this what it meant to be away from Earth?
He's not sure how he feels. Delicately, he picks up one of the masks. He wasn't holding back but it remained in one piece. Is this how it felt . . . to be completely human?
Without thinking, he applied extra pressure. Not even a crack. He can't help but grin a little.
Until it breaks. Then that grin turns a little sheepish and he faces the shopkeeper. ]
Sorry. Er, how much is it again?
[ b - fight club ]
[ He's not entirely sure how he found himself here. Not that it mattered. There were always people who took his size and strength personally. As if Clark stood for all the better people of the world. Still, it was hard to keep up appearances and pretend that he was helpless. So he did his best to fake the blows and punches.
Hopefully, they'll get bored when they realize he's not fighting back, he thought to himself as one guy tried to throw him against the wall. Key emphasis on "tried". ]

No, I accidentally broke it. It's only fair that I buy it now. "Once broke, consider sold."

Yes. I've just arrived.

Watch it there, strong man.
[ it's joking, and a little impressed ]
no subject
I'm going to get banned, aren't I?
no subject
Hopefully you wanted that one anyway.
no subject
[ He glances back at the other masks. He's not even sure he needs it, but it would be a glaring sign to his identity. ]
Hopefully, they'll still let me try one.
no subject
And hey, if it broke that easily, maybe you didn't want it anyway?
My name's Kara, by the way. Kara Danvers. Are you new to the Fleet?
no subject

It wasn't hard to pick out that everyone was having trouble against one man in the arena. He was less indestructible, but excellent self-defense meant he was doing just fine holding his own as he sidled his way over to Clark. ]
So, what are you in for?
[ He made no move to attack him, and in fact knocked back a potential attacker with a quick sweep of his leg, dropping the man. ]
I swear, no one has manners anymore.
no subject
I think I might have bumped someone.
no subject
[ He glanced at him in surprise and then around the others in the arena, eyes critical. ]
If it's this one guy I'm thinking of, clearly he didn't lean anything from when I put my boot up his ass the last time. Not that it looked like you were really having a problem.
no subject
[ Clark has always gotten into fights. Too quiet, too gifted, too strong. All the things people want and yearn for, and look on, jealous. And he can't tell the truth. He pretends to slip a little before straightening. ]
I have a way with people.
no subject
What do you say to a team up? I'd rather not be in here longer than I have to be. I'll buy you a beer for the trouble later - or tea or wine, whatever your poison is.
no subject
Deal.
[ When the men attack, Clark moves almost gingerly. Like rainwater in the forest. His movements are curt, precise and swift but he keeps his palms open, no fists and uses his opponent's momentum against them. ]
have we played together on a bakerstreet meme before? Your journal name looks familiar

The crowd is dispersing and Apollo is starting to brush off the dirt. ]
Hey. Do a guy a favour? I have no idea how much of this gunk I still have on me, is it off my face at least?
no subject
It looks like your face made it in one piece.
no subject
My pretty face is fairly un-bustable, luckily. Anyway, mud wrestling... not anyone should be drawing blood from it. Unless you're doing it very wrong.
no subject
[ The tone is a little dry. Last he checked, mud wrestling didn't involve grudge matches and trying to slam people into walls. ]
no subject
[ He resists the urge to scoop mud off the other man and stripe it down his nose. ]
You want some help drying that off so it can be brushed off?
no subject
I think I'll be fine. Thank you.
